These are the standards we adhere to when grading sports cards.
Myntd Gem Mint 10
A Myntd Gem Mint 10 is reserved for cards that are virtually perfect. These cards will have four crisp corners, clean edges, and be free of staining, blemishes, creases, and indents. Slight printing imperfections may be allowable depending upon the severity. A Myntd Gem Mint 10 allows a centering tolerance of 55/45 on the front and 75/25 on the back. At Myntd autographs, both on card and sticker autos, do not receive separate grades. They are taken into consideration on the card’s overall grade.
Myntd Mint 9
A Myntd Mint 9 is a card that is virtually perfect but has one minor flaw. This minor flaw may include one edge with very slight wear, a minor blemish on the back, slight yellowing of the border, or minor print imperfections. The allowable centering tolerance for a Myntd Mint 9 is 60/40 or better on the front and 90/10 on the back. At Myntd autographs, both on card and sticker autos, do not receive separate grades. They are taken into consideration on the card’s overall grade.
Myntd Near Mint 8
A Myntd Near Mint 8 is a card that has an additional flaw that prevents it from getting a Mint 9. This flaw could be one of two corners that have slight wear and are not perfectly crisp or two edges that have very slight wear. The allowable centering tolerance for a Myntd Near Mint 8 is 65/35 or better on the front and 90/10 or better on the back. At Myntd autographs, both on card and sticker autos, do not receive separate grades. They are taken into consideration on the card’s overall grade.
Myntd 7
A Myntd 7 is a card that may have slight surface wear that is visible upon close inspection. Corners and edges may have some slight wear. The allowable centering tolerance for a Myntd 7 is 70/30 or better on the front and 90/10 or better on the back. At Myntd autographs, both on card and sticker autos, do not receive separate grades. They are taken into consideration on the card’s overall grade.
Myntd 6
A Myntd 6 is a card that may have visible surface wear or a printing defect but still retains its overall appeal. May contain a slight scratch of the front that is visible upon close inspection. Corners and edges may have slightly more wear. Picture may be slightly out of focus. The allowable centering tolerance for a Myntd 6 is 80/20 or better on the front and 90/10 or better on the back. At Myntd autographs, both on card and sticker autos, do not receive separate grades. They are taken into consideration on the card’s overall grade.
Myntd 5
A Myntd 5 is a card where the corners and edges have more apparent wear. The front may have multiple light scratches visible upon close inspection. Picture may be slightly out of focus. The allowable centering tolerance for a Myntd 5 is 85/15 or better on the front and 90/10 or better on the back. At Myntd autographs, both on card and sticker autos, do not receive separate grades. They are taken into consideration on the card’s overall grade.
Myntd 4
A Myntd 4 is a card where the corners may be slightly rounded and edges have apparent wear. Front may have modest surface wear. Card may have light scratches or scuffing visible or slight creasing. The allowable centering tolerance for a Myntd 4 is 85/15 or better on the front and 90/10 or better on the back. At Myntd autographs, both on card and sticker autos, do not receive separate grades. They are taken into consideration on the card’s overall grade.
Myntd 3
A Myntd 3 is a card where corner rounding and edge wear may be more severe. Surface wear will be more apparent. Much of the card’s original gloss will be lost. Card may contain creasing. May contain more print defects or lack of picture focus. Front of card may contain slight staining. The allowable centering tolerance for a Myntd 3 is 90/10 or better on the front and 90/10 or better on the back. At Myntd autographs, both on card and sticker autos, do not receive separate grades. They are taken into consideration on the card’s overall grade.
Myntd 2
A Myntd 2 is a card that has prominent corner and edge wear and surface wear. The overall appearance of the card would be considered quite rough. The card may contain considerable creasing and scratching. The allowable centering tolerance for a Myntd 2 is 90/10 or better on the front and 90/10 or better on the back. At Myntd autographs, both on card and sticker autos, do not receive separate grades. They are taken into consideration on the card’s overall grade.
Myntd 1
A Myntd 1 is a card that is in severely poor condition with a multitude of defects and wear. Card may contain tears or missing chunks. At Myntd autographs, both on card and sticker autos, do not receive separate grades. They are taken into consideration on the card’s overall grade.
*Important to note: At Myntd we do not believe in using high powered microscopes to find defects. If a defect can’t be seen with slight magnification, it doesn’t exist in our book. We find it completely crazy to make deductions on flaws that can only be seen under high powered microscopes. We do use slight magnification on the corners, edges, and front surface. Rear corners and edges are judged with slight magnification. No magnification is used on rear surface.
